She is back with her favorite people and she is so happy now that she lives alone because Mr. ____ left. She is having a good life and is feeling loved and wanted and that's what she wanted all her life.

She is married to some guy, but she is just working for him, as a slave, but it never comes out and says that. She then meets a singer and she calls her Shug. They become very close friends and Shug actually loves her and shows her the compassion that she has always wanted. They lay in bed together and talk about things that Alice has questions about and just about enjoyable things like life, singing and boys.

This book I have realized is written in all letters to her sister that is away I'm pretty sure in Africa. But her and her sister were very close so now that she is alone it is very hard for her to cope to have no one their for her.
