The book keeps getting more and intense and gruesome, most of the jewish people to Auschwitz and all of the people who work for the Germans got to stay in the ghettos. His sister Janina snuck out of the ghetto and never came back. Meanwhile the sewers she snuck out of were manned by German soldiers with flamethrowers.
