Overall a decent book with just too much deux ex machina. Ella was fortold to die then... Sarah bites the bullet herself. Although it was a plot twist, the build up gave it away.

They catch up to the anubis and under orders from Agent Walker, soldiers guide them to a makeshift camp. In the middle of a fight all the garde lose conscious. We later know this is the work of Ella. Daniela wakes up with a new legacy and vaporizes the monster ahead of them. Though a little deus ex machina, but still works I guess?

John and Sam meet up with a girl named Daniela which out of nowhere gained legacies (which are powers not native to humans). Later John gets injured and falls unconscious. In his "dream" , Ella telepathically talks to him and warns him that the Anubis is heading towards the sanctuary. So far the book keeps a steady pace of action and character development between the group with Adam being a mogadorian( their enemy).
