Game Of Thrones is long but it is worth it.It isn't based on Earth but its based on an earth like planet.You should check it out.

Yeah it's great.It's loosely(and I mean extremely) based off of something called 'The War Of The Roses' that lasted 1455-1487 so it has a real medieval feel to it.
The Sword of Truth series is a 13 book series. The books are very long and super descriptive but it pays off in the end with very good endings. It has everything that most fantasy books have like magic, dragons, kings and a evil sorcerer. It might not be for you because of the length but I suggest you try it if you like fantasy books.
