It's really great how I can give a best 'book of the year' vote...

...to a book that hasn't even came out yet.

And the fact how it totally skipped the first round, but now it's in the semifinals, and it probably will be in the finals - all of which before the book itself is even released.

Flawless, Goodreads. Flawless.

Gavin Never fear, my friend, you can rest assured that I'm a soul who would never consider doing such an unscrupulous thing. I'm holding back my own Oathbringer vote until I finish at least the first page of the book on release day:P

I'm pretty disgusted my original vote of An Echo of Things to Come never even made the second round of voting. All I can say is you guys have awful taste!!!

Did you vote for anything?

Stefan What's the point in voting? If I can vote for a book that's not even published, that I haven't read, why keeping up with charades? Just give that book 'the best book of the year' tittle and be done with it.

I will actually vote for Oathbringer right now. To show how all of this is ridiculously stupid I'll vote for a book I haven't read, that's not even published, because Goodreads decided despite all of that it should be included in the list. :D

Mind you, if they started this GR choice award circus on 14th I wouldn't make a sound. People would have five days to read that book. But the problem is, book is going to be in the finals already but it still won't be published.
Yeah, that makes sense. :D

Sade lol i thought i was the only one who noticed.. Totally raised my eyebrow when i saw it had been included in the semi final round of voting.

Stefan I just voted for Oathbringer. :D I honestly did. :D Yeah, without even reading it. And I can't read it because it's not published. But I can sure vote so that it can be named as a best book of the year.
Because - logic. This is ridiculous... :D

Gavin The Goodreads Award Choice thingy is fucked up for sure. You know what the crazy thing is? If people had not voted Oathbringer into this years award then it would not have had a chance at winning at all as due to its publication date it is not eligible for the 2018 award! The system is really not fair to books getting released in November. Oathbringer is not the only victim as I spotted Renegades getting released by popular YA author Marissa Meyer and that book will also be ineligible for next years award.

Do not take these votes to seriously. I think it is a scientific fact that if you give Joe Public the chance to vote on something then they pick the wrong option most of the time even when there is only two choices and they have a, supposed, 50-50 chance of picking the right option. The infallible idiocy of the masses remains one of the true mysteries of life!
