Bo was hospitalized that was possibly a heart attack but later it was actually a kidney stone. The players of the staff didn't know if he was ready for the start of the season. He retired at the end of that season.

Coach bo became the winning est coach in michigan history at that time and the team decided to buy him a plaque with all of the victories he had with the wolverines.

Michigan has finally won the conference championship and won there 5th rose bowl.
