g2- The previous prince of Archenfield has been assassinated and the Edling, Jared, has to take over his brother's place. The conflict in this part is trying to find who killed the protagonist's brother. Everybody appears to be calm on the outside but internally all the characters are mourning the loss of the old prince/friend. This entire segment is just part of the exposition and/or early rising action.
