as of right now in my book I believe that my author is trying to shoe that even though he had many struggles, that did not stop him from his goals and dreams in life, it only made him work harder

The quote "try to keep things from getting so close that the refs could determine the outcome"
is very important to me because in many games that I play some can blame outcomes on the refs but if you play well enough the refs can't decide the game

I like this quote because even though he wasn't given much and was in poverty and the basketball wasn't in the best condition, he did not care because the ball was his own.
