This book should actually be titled ‘Why You Don’t Want To Be a Victorian.’

I’ve learned that Victorian men did not wash or even rinse their hair before the year 1840 and I’m not sure what to do with this information.

… Probably pretend I never read it and go back to watching period films.

This chapter about privies was absolutely nauseating oh my god. Reason #1 I would not make it through a single day in the life of a Victorian.

This book is so entertainingly written, I hardly feel like I'm reading nonfiction! I'm so impressed that the author has tried so many of these things herself.
