There's no doubt COl Bury can write. His prose is tight and calculated. The stories I've read so far are a bit tentative (short, uncomitting), but the talent is there and I think the display was the whole point of the collection.

Aggressively tight is his style. I remember him saying his other work, Harry Charter Chronicles, was modeled after jokes he'd heard. The stories lasted about as long.
