Poor tribe of Indians have lost many men in a fight after sailors visit their island. Karana's( Chief's Daughter) father has been killed and now the women must do all the work the men once did. Life is becoming increasingly hard for the people of the tribe. What an exciting book!

Good background check on the main characters like the girl,brother,and father. Very laid back at the moment
