I bought this from the authors for Henryville auction for my students who like to hunt, but it is so much more than a good hunting story.

Nicolas Packett The story takes place in Pennsylvania, in just the beginning of the short hunting season. Joey and his dad both enjoy shooting guns, however both have different opinions on killing animals. Joey would rather take pictures of them then kill them. his dad made a bet were joey would kill the biggest buck of the season. To make his dad proud he goes behind his back and goes hunting by himself. To pay the price some problems occur.

Buck fever is a good book but it has its flaws. Cynthia Willis could have used a better knowledge of hunting. For instance the book states that “ I shift me feet, my feet rustle leaves, he stampers off.” this shows that the buck took off as soon has the leaves rustled. Which would not happen in real life. The buck would have turned, look at you. he would have flipped up his white tail to worn other deer and than took off.
