Okay, I'm picking this back up again. This is gonna be a tough one to get through, I'm just not connecting with anything yet.
First off, I hope the rape stories tones down. I get these women are in a bad spot but come on.
Second, it's stupid to have this novel be written as "journal" entries. No journal is written like this. It's a first person narrative through and through. I understand why, but it annoys me.

I've barely started and I'm bored. Can one be to overly descriptive? Barely fifty pages in and there's a handful of clichéd characters. Even if I didn't know the author was a man, I could clearly see that all these female characters were being written by a man. Plenty of men have written wonderful female characters, it's just that the main character doesn't feel authentic to me. This might get better.
