Having read of his defeat of Anthony. I have stalled. The rest of the book is concerned with his relationship with his daughter, whose licentious behaviour threatens his position as Emperor. I have yet to get into this and it is a big departure from the first part of the book.

I have got a bit stuck with this book. I have read beyond the point where Augustus has avenged the murder of Caesar, but now has to keep the empire together, as well as keep his daughter Julia in check. I feel it sort of looses impetus at this stage and I have lost interest. I hope I will finish off the book a bit later on, but I have been distracted. The first half of this book was excellent,
