Since I started this book it gave me more of an idea of what the segregation was like in the south. This book but the reader in the shoes of Maya Angelou and what it was like living in stamps Arkansas during 1930s.

As an author I love Maya Angelou but some times this book is boring to read.

In the last fourteen pages of the book Maya Angelou talked about how she rarely encountered white people. The only time she encountered them was when she was going into town for Mamma. It is amazing how life as changed in the south and across the country since Maya Angelou was a child.
