from Barbara Deming's account of the Southern Peace Walk in TN, Apr 1962, as the church in which Deming is staying is attacked at night: "they carried flashlights aimed at themselves, to show the strangers where they were and that they were unarmed...we could hear the stones still flying...Eric...had been hit...he staggered up and called, "It's all right. You hit me in the head, but it's all right. Come talk to us."
