Hang on. There's a lot of grooming going on in this book to a 9 year old boy (who's a little angry sociopath in the making anyway). From the weird butler to the mysterious grandmother figure. One trying to make Bart an evil woman-hating mastermind and the other constantly feeding him junk food and spoiling him with presents. There's no hope for him really. That's why I love Virginia Andrews!
