Interesting argument that while we shouldn't let others dictate our morality, we should have our own which we are consistent about.

As someone who teaches in middle school, I couldn't agree more. Why do we force this monolithic idea of morality on students whose personalities are clearly not? Like Kitano says, it's like we are taking a bulldozer to any individuality they may express.

Kitano makes an interesting argument that the idea of hard work as a moral virtue is basically just a construction of those in power sold to the public to maintain public order. Once people think they don't have to work, society falls apart.

We can teach "morality" to children, but whose morality is it? Wars start because one side thinks their morals have more value than someone else's.「俺たちが正義だ。お前の考え方は間違ってる」そういって戦争するわけだ。

道徳っていうことは本当に何だろうか。歴史的に世が変わると道徳も変わる。
