I am enthralled by most of these stories (complex characters, interesting situations, riveting language) until about 2/3 of the way through and then something flips and the characters are not believable anymore. Someone turns nasty which is fine (I like nasty) but it is not realistic nasty.

Hmmm. Not a lot of reviews but everyone who has read it really likes this book. So far I don't. Almost every opening grabs me but then with a couple of exceptions diverts into something not very believable.
"Nobody Ever Gets Lost" is an exception. That from start to finish is believable, emotionally true, heart-wrenching.
