I love reading excerpts from this book to my infant son. The words really seem to come to life. The dinner party chapter is my favorite thus far. I understand the tedium, expectation, and need to "assert" oneself in a large social group completely. I felt like I was watching a film when Woolf described the dining table lit with candles. This book is lovely and, like so many triumphs I've read, worth the perseverance.
