It was a difficult start, but I'm really enjoying this book now. It's an improvement over "Night of Knives", more epic, but not as good as the Erikson books. A lot of interesting stuff has been happening, but I feel that the emotional impact isn't as strong as I'm used to with other Malazan books. Still a very good read; I'm looking forward to the ending in book 3.

Done with book 1. It started out a bit messy and not everything was very clear on me from the start. There was a lot of jumping around between pov's and locations with not much explanation. The book reminded me in that way of GotM. But now that I'm one-third into the story, I'm really getting into it and I'm starting to like this book!
