The moments leading to the Pearl Harbour attack are covered in such detail! In hindsight, it's easy to argue that something could have been done better. However, if they had known what was at stake, they would have done better!

first two chapters cover the rise of Gen. George Marshall to the rank of colonel and his exploits as the man with a plan. His planning expertise might have saved his life and secured a late promotion. I don't know how to react to that; I guess living longer would be a logical answer. Let's see how the interwar years build the future army chief.
