At just a little more than halfway through this excellent biography, I am struck by how often I am intrigued, disappointed, surprised, optimistic, flabbergasted, angry, happy, ecstatic, and finally but ultimately fascinated by this man. The tragic hero and the dauntless villain in his own story, Nixon somehow managed to disappoint and inspire.
