''job title: Mother
Job description: Not really sure what that is.'' (93) This golden gem tells me how much hatred Hunter has towards his mother. In this passage he is describing the jobs his mother once had. Hunter is saying that his mother if she can be called that never learned what a mother actually is. Through out the story Kristina the teenage mother of the narrators is described as the worst '' mother''.

I noticed that most of the book takes place at home, school, or some type of vehicle. There are three characters in the book that are related to each other, but they have different personalities. I think it's amazing how the author Ellen Hopkins portraits a teenager's personality do well. She uses words and thoughts that all teenagers can relate to, and the style of her writing like a poem makes it even better.

I picked out a golden gem that sais '' every one in a while he leaves a bruise, no apology. For my own good, he says, So you don't end up like your father.''(39) In this passage Atumm one of the main characters is mentioning how get grandfather treats her. This really breaks my heart to know that just because the grandfather abhors his son, he decides that his granddaughter will learn not to be like her father.
