Honestly I was really confused about this short story and it did have so much potential but I was left with confusion and questions. I think it was about going against the norm and something about curiosity. I wished we got more background on it and just more information but I guess that is the whole point about this story to not expose the mystery.

The Story of a Knife by Gretchen Schreiber: 5/5 stars
This story is hauntingly beautiful and honestly the best so far. It is a mix of my favourite fairytale (the little mermaid) and the trope of rebelling against a generational curse. I will talk more about it in the review but honestly love this story and honestly wish I got to know more about the history and how each generation survived without the sea.

Honestly needed this kind of short story after a long week I’ve had. It is such a cute story about a human boy and a merman and how they offered to help each other’s weaknesses and slowly develop feelings for one another. I’ll go in more detail during my review but I just wish there was more about the world and their love story.

So picking this book back up after being in a big reading slump and school kicking my butt. This story started off interesting and honestly a great start to the anthology. It reminds of the typical siren story you know and about finding your voice even if it means that it is different from everyone else. It was a little boring but excited to read the other stories.
