This is not a bird identification book in the traditional sense. This is a collection of meditations on birds that exist in our area. Meaning I recognize a lot of them, even though I am not a master birder. The author’s experience adds to my knowledge, the illustrator’s interpretations are relevant to the stories.

Okay, now I need to read Field Guide to Dumb Birds of North America because she recommended it for much needed humor in a time of despair for dwindling bird populations.
