John Wooden has a different moral universe then you might think. John's moral universe is very specific to his self and his players. Wooden's team could not smoke during the season because John knew it was bad for them and he treated his players like family. Another rule or habit was that the players on Wooden's team had to eat the same thing before each game. A salad, a small piece of stake, and a small desert.

The antagonist in Wooden, A Coaches Life by Seth Davis is not necessarily a person. The antagonist is Johns life. He is very poor and he has to travel long distances to find work even while he is attending college. His family depends on him to send money back, but with paying for college he has to work extra hard. Wooden is a basketball star at Purdue, but can he support his family?
