Starting this as a way to cheer me up after reading Play It As It Lays. Bukowski has a fun way of making the miserable enticing in a way polar to Didion. Where the latter draws you in with her sleek & thrilling brand of nihilism, the former’s is filled with much more wit. I hope I’ll have a good laugh at Hollywood’s dysfunction this time around.
