The Nazi's have entered Warsaw, Poland and have started to round the jews up and put them in ghettos. But luckily the zoo is kept. At this part, I knew what the social issue was. The War was obviously the crime/justice but there was another one that popped up into my head, which was racism/discrimination. It was racism/discrimination as the Nazi's made jews, Only Jews, were forced into ghettos and were made to work.

The book started off with the setting and the time period as the time period plays a big part in this story. The dates and times are written in every chapter. All I know at this moment is that there is a zoo that is in Warsaw, Poland and is taken care of by a family. The zookeeper, the zookeepers wife, and the son.
