the last paragraph from the first page shows brilliantly how this book isn‘t about being a vegetarian / not eating meat due to the animals but about patriarchy and how not eating animals is her gaining autonomy over her body for the first time in the only way she knows how while feeling & recognizing the violence she experienced and is part of. I HAVE SO MUCH TO SAY ABOUT THIS BOOK

it‘s just genius. hach. these are probably the best 50 start pages of a book ever (märtyrer is a close second). it has sooo much meaning and sets the whole patriarchy scene perfectly!
