In Chapter 4 Huck Is Starting To Become Used To His New Life And Begins To Do Better In School. One Day While Outside He Noticed Boot Tracks By His House. Next To Them Were Two Crossed Nails To Ward Off The Devil. Later On Huck Goes To Jim, Who Claims To Have A Giant Magical Hairball From An Ox's Stomach. Huck Tells Jim That He Has Found Pap's Tracks In The Snow And He Wants To Know What His Father Wants.

In Chapter 8 Huck Spends Three Days Alone On The Island, Eating Berries, Fish, And Smoking. At Night He Counted Ferryboats And Stars On The River. On The Fourth Day While Exploring The Island, Huck Is Happy When He Finds Jim, Who At First Thinks That Huck Is A Ghost. Jim Says That He Overheard Miss Watson Discussing Selling Him For $800 To A Slave Trader Who Would Take Him To New Orleans.

In Chapter 7, Huck Finds A Canoe Floating Downriver And Hides It For His Getaway. Later He Loads It With Food And Supplies. He Kills A Wild Pig And Spreads Its Blood On The Floor And Around The Cabin. He Fills A Sack With Rocks Takes It To The River And Sinks It. Huck Pulls Out Some Of His Hair And Sticks It To The Axe And Throws Into A Corner. Later He Waits For Pap To Land And Then Leaves To Go To Jackson Island.

In Chapter 6 Pap Sues Judge Thatcher For Huck's Money And Threatens Huck Not To Go To School, Which Huck Does In Order To Anger His Pap. Pap Kidnaps Huck And The Two Live In A Shed Down By The River. Huck Begins Sawing His Way Out Of The Cabin. Suffering From Delirium Tremors, Pap Chases Huck With A Knife Before Passing Out. Huck Points A Gun At Pap As He Sleeps.

In Chapter 5 Huck Is Scared Of Pap, Soon He Realizes That Pap Is Just Old, Dirty, Gray Haired, And Has No Color In His face. Huck Tells Pap About The Widow. Then Pap Threatens To Stop The Widow From Messing With Huck's Life. He Says That No Boy Should Be "Put On Airs" Over His Own Father And Act Better Than His Father. He Threatens To Beat Huck If He Goes Back To School. But Instead Pap Gets Drunk And Breaks His Arm.

Huck Is Disappointed That The Band Isn't Made Up Of A-Rabs As Much As Townspeople On A Sunday School Picnic.Tom Says That Huck Would Be Able To See The A-Rabs, If He Had Read Don Quixote. Then He Would See That The Enemy Magicians Had Made The Band Look Like A Sunday School Picnic. He Tells Huck All The Rules About Magicians And Genies And Magic Lamps And Huck Thinks The Whole Thing Is Silly.
