this book is a pretty cool book though it is pretty sad. the main character (starr) has had 2 people she knew been killed one being her childhood best friend. Khalil (starrs best friend) was killed by an officer that knew he didnt have anything on him.

this book is about a 16 year old starr carter and she is at a party where theres a lot of booze and weed. she came with her half sister kenya, but her parents dont know shes there. kenya is always starting stuff and getting into fights and this time kenya wants to get in a fight with another girl. all the sudden there are gunshots and kenya and her bestfriend, khalil run out.
