Starr is being asked questions in the station about Khalid's death. This was hard for her to do because she has been avoiding this subject all week at school. During the interview, they start asking questions like "Was Khalid drinking that night?". This made Starr mad because she thought they were blaming Khalid for getting himself killed.

Starr is going to school for the first time since the accident. She is trying to pretend like nothing is wrong at school, and doesn't want to bother anyone. After school she is going to answer questions about the shooting at the police station.

Starr's dad and uncle were arguing on rather Starr should talk to the police about what went down when her best friend was shot. Since it was the police that shot him, she doesn't know if she wants to talk to them even though she was the only witness.

In this part of the story, Starr is with her friend Khalid and they are pulled over by the police. When Khalid asks what he did wrong the police officer yells at him to put his hands up, and cuffs him. When he goes to make sure Starr is alright the police shoots him 3 times. This just made me think about what some police can get away with without ever being caught.
