Two chapters of war crimes and crimes against humanity. The slaughter of native Americans and Mexicans was absolutely brutal and both Glanton and the Judge are truly despicable evil people. But so are all of the Americans riding with them taking part in the bloodshed, even the kid. Let them all hang.

Making charging powder out of piss and mud was interesting

These early characterizations of the Judge are not what I was expecting. I expected him to be brutal and evil. He is those things but he’s also witty, highly intelligent, a leader and somehow has a peaceful aura about him. His description is intimidating and creepy but he is sound. He is disturbing but also draws you in.
