the uncle story is dumb

the thing with the uncle is weird. I feel like he killed her sister and is like ruthless, but then why not deal with her husband who is sending her into ruin? why doesn't her dad help in any way? if they are so worried about appearances why abandon her?

I don't quite believe the ship with Bastian. The pacing of it is just off somehow. I would be much happier if he turned out to be a villain and not her match
