Jesus the people in this book are just so fucking dense.
“Oh the hyper intelligent dog who’s proved beyond doubt he has a sixth sense as to the location of an evil monkey won’t let me go into my house using the exact same method he used to save me from the same evil monkey three months ago… must be the wind”.
It took them WEEKS to think of asking the dog yes or no question Jesus.

The bechdel test is afraid of Dean Koontz
I don’t think Dean Koontz is a bad writer, his good overall sense of story is keeping me reading, but his prose really isn’t up to par for me.
Nora’s characterization is kind of rubbing me the wrong way too. She’s written to be so reliant on Travis, who honestly is nothing special. Feels like wish fulfillment.

Everyone in this book talks like they’re straight out of a Peanuts cartoon. I swear if you imagine everyone talking in the voice of Charlie Brown and Lucy the dialogue sounds a lot more natural.
