Finished the First Notebook. Already, Osamu Dazai has made it abundantly clear what the protagonist’s childhood is like. The severity of his depression and alienation is devastating, and this is just the beginning.

It’s worth noting that I’m going in largely blind. I have no idea where the story goes, outside of what’s mentioned on the back cover.
