Lina's mother died. Many of the prisoners at the labor camp perished. The man who wound is watch died. The little girl with the dolly, Janina, ceased to exist. Janina mother expired at the labor camp. The cold winter of Siberian were there was no snow for six months proved to extremely hard especially with very little food, heat, decent water, and harsh labor. They lived in jurta (huts) not suitable for life.

Jonas almost died of Scurvy. Andrius brought him a tomato. The Siberian woman knew of a tea that could heal. It took two weeks for to Jonas to improve. it is Christmas and the sub freezing weather is getting into everyone's spirit. The Lithuanians gathered to reminisce about Kucios .
