As far as utilizing primary sources create an in depth view of a president and his close circle, this biography is unsurpassed. This would serve well as someone’s second biography of Jackson, as it focuses only on the Presidency and lacks much context of other happenings in US history at the time. It also breezes through the Trail of Tears, something Jackson spent less time on but is of interest to modern readers.
