The stories about the renowned climbers are interesting bc I’m reading about how their ability to ignore warning signs and push through injuries are admirable and all I keep thinking is how only men can turn reckless, life-threatening decisions into a rhetoric of heroism just for a hobby

Oh I’m getting annoyed. At the “my wife almost divorced me bc she doesn’t understand the grip climbing mountains has on my soul” part and dismissing her concerns about her husband dying on Everest and how he will be dead but their family will have to live with that pain forever!
