Mr Crawley certainly needs to develop a spirit of docility/teachability. He is very mulish! But at the same time, there’s a deeply-rooted part of Mr Crawley that I thoroughly understand, because I have also struggled so much with it: an anger and indignation when things aren’t the way they SHOULD rightfully be, but are the way they ARE, however different that is. I get it, Josiah, I get it!!

There is a VERY fine line between helpfulness and best intentions, and machinations and manipulation! And Mr Robarts is riding it!!

Mr Crawley putting Mrs Proudie in her place was exquisitely enjoyable 😂

Absolutely loving this!

Poor Mr Crawley! “The stripes and scorn of the unfaithful would have been nothing to him, if only the faithful would have believed in him, poor as he was, as they would have believed in him had he been rich!” That broke my heart!

Mrs Proudie makes a strong case in favour of clerical celibacy 🤣🤣🤣

I find it so moving that Mr. Robarts is willing to post bail on behalf of Mr. Crawley, after the last disastrous experience he had about putting up money for someone else in Framley Parsonage. 🥹❤️

So many more characters from previous books in the series are making an appearance! Mrs Proudie 🤣 Lily Dale, Johnny Eames, Rev. Harding and both of his daughters. I love this!!

I’m just loving the return of so many beloved (and not so beloved!) characters! And the novel throws us right into more delightful rural dudgeon immediately!
