something about the switch up between these two chapters… such peak McMurtry. there is so much resilience and determination in these characters, wisdom that comes with age and through suffering… and nonetheless it doesn’t matter who you are or how much resilience or wisdom you have because it can all be gone in an instant

Read a bunch of this while off grid. Very happy this was my camp read choice, setting couldn’t have been more perfect- literally drove past Goodnight’s ranch house irl!
