Albert is frustratingly naive. Franz deserves a better friend, is swear! Someone who won’t just ditch him to flirt with some random suspicious woman. I’m 100% on Franz’s side regarding everything. He is right not to trust the Count and to question his origins, unlike Albert who only sees the Count’s apparent virtuous philanthropy.

Part 2 was slow, so I’m looking forward to part 3!

It’s somewhat interesting, seeing the kind of life wealthy aristocrats led in the 19th century. Franz and Albert are just doing whatever they want and their biggest concern is the lack of available car… even though they were able to get a charrette. Seriously, they have a vehicle! What’s there to complain about?!

I kind of want to complain about all the tangents. I don’t really care about some random Italian bandits.

Edmond is finally out!! Yippee!!! Rip Faria though. Thank you for everything.

It’s so nice to finally be out of the darkness and into the sunlight, and that Edmond can be on the seas once more. Made me emotional, not gonna lie.

I’m reading at a snail’s pace but in my defense the letters are tiny and my eyes are burning.

The plot is amazing!!! My man Dantès was done so dirty. But I do understand Villefort’s motivations, he acted out of both ambition and self-preservation. Danglars and Fernand deserve to burn in hell. Terrible people those two. Also Fernand: no means no!! She’s not into you!!!!!

Pretty good so far! Dumas creates a life-like rendition of Marseille, both the characters and the harbor feel alive.
