The slasher sub-genre of horror is so stripped of nuance and depth that the most interesting work tend to work with the sub-genre. This is the third book by Jones that I have read that dares to metatextually work within the genre. As a result of not really adding any fat or meat to the bare bones of the slasher, all the meta just provides an anemic reading experience stretched over nearly 500 pages.
