I’m devouring this, a memoir of a scrappy American living abroad in Paris right one the verge of something great eeeeeek. Hemingway is nasty, cynical, judgmental, but ultimately vindicated in the end. Don’t know how I feel about that honestly but you can’t rewrite history. I think my favorite passages are when he’s stalking James Joyce

really very wonderful. There is truly no place like Paris, I’m already mourning it and I’m still here in my little chambre de bonne. I haven’t read much by Hemingway and I’m realizing he’s kind of a cunt. He keeps DRAGGING Gertrude stein for no real reason
