Once he gets there, he starts talking to the caged rabbits, attempting to convince them to come with him. His visit is cut short, however, because a cat picked up their scent.

Dandelion tells the story of the Black Rabbit of Inle. Hazel and Pipkin don't like it, so they leave the room. However, Bigwig stays becuase he's the one who requested the story. I think his goal was to scare everyone into going back home.

A mouse is spotted by an eagle outside of the warren. Hazel, one of the rabbits, sympathizes with it and tells it to run. Despite these efforts, the mouse still got caught by the eagle.

Hazel and his group continue to stay with the strange rabbits. For some reason, the rabbits won't answer any question beginning with the word. "where". I think that they won't answer that question because sometime in the past, their citizens got killed by a man.

The rabbits are invited into the strangely large warren. It's beautiful, and all the rabbits who live there are silky and clean. However, there is something off about it. They all seem sad, and they avoid many questions by interrupting the visiting rabbits when they speak.
