I am amazed at how attached I am to the characters and the story already. Matar’s writing style is beautiful and touching. One of my favorite human relationships that makes me so emotional are friendships. It amazes me and I love reading about it. I hope Mustafa and Khaled encounter one another again. Khaled, omg, I hope nothing happens to his family, I just know he won’t forgive himself.

They reunited!!! And finally!! Khaled gets to see his family again. I genuinely almost cried when Khaled told his father the truth about why he can’t go back to Libya. His father loves him so much. It’s so scary for both Khaled and his family, they can’t feel safe anywhere :( also Khaled finally meets Hossam but I wonder what happens to Mustafa then? I hope he doesn’t die I will be CRUSHED
