This is one of the few books that I’ve read which swaps between two characters POV each chapter well. Lola’s broken English as a Filipina immigrant to the USA is written well too. It’s more or less the same tempo no suspense or action. There’s been Ruth’s wedding, Claire’s composition failed at the concert, Paul’s pilot shoot was successful and Will is now at school and struggling. There’s talks of firing Lola. I am finding the emotional buildup and storyline more enjoyable than I usually would.

Will almost died, drowning in a pond cause Claire’s mum took her eyes off him. And Bing (I think that’s the kids name) he almost died from a bad fever I think. The book is good but I feel like it’s missing suspense of some sort.

Marriage problems and them not having any friends in town. Until they met Helen & Jeff which is a weird competitive situation. I like how Claire’s struggles with being a stay at home mum is written it feels very realistic no fantasy bs. I’m hoping the story ramps up soon.
