Thomas has to choose to lead the group and get them out of WICKED's Base or to give up now and let WICKED boss them around until they find a cure. He also has to figure out what to do now that Newt is infected with the Flare (virus).

The most notable thing about that happened this far in the book is that Thomas sees Brenda again, but she warns him about WICKED. She tells him not to trust them only her and Ava Paige, but Ava is the one who started WICKED so Thomas is confused on who to trust.
