In my book I was suprised that Curzon wouldn't want to help Isabel find Ruth after she took him with her, rowed all across the ocean, and freed him. He is being a little selfish that he wouldn't help Isabel and cruel. " we argued about going after Ruth, then we fought about it, and finally, in May, she ran away from me, taking all of our money (7)". This shows that the fact that he wouldn't help her suprised me.

In my book John is mean. He is because he makes up things about Curzon and makes other people turn against him. " he spat at my feet. he accused me of stealing my new hat. he said the crudest kinds of things about my parents and grandparents (56)". This proves that johns character trait would have to be mean.

In my book I was suprised to hear that Isabel would take all of Curzon and her money and just take it away. It was also very surprising when she ran away since without someone with her she could get lost and not have anyone's support with her. Since I left my book at school I can't do a quote but in the text it said Curzon and Isabel were fighting about going to get Ruth so I can see why Isabel ran away.
